Boars Head Expanding Recall Amid Listeria Outbreak

Expanded Recall: July 30, 2024

Overview

Boars Head Provisions Co. has significantly expanded its recall of ready-to-eat liverwurst products and other deli meats due to a deadly outbreak of listeria.

Listeria Fatalities

The outbreak has claimed the lives of two people in the United States and sickened approximately three others.

Recalled Products

The recall encompasses 71 products manufactured between May 10 and July 29, 2024. These products were distributed nationwide.

The impacted products include liverwurst, ham, and various luncheon meats.

Weight of Meat Recalled

Boars Head has recalled a staggering 207,000 pounds of deli meat, posing a significant threat to consumers.

Contamination Concerns

The recalled products have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause severe illness, particularly in vulnerable individuals such as the elderly and those with weakened immune systems.
