Fubo Posts 258m Q2 Loss As Subscribers Dip

Fubo Loses Subscribers, Posts Net Loss

Subscriber Count Declines in North America

WEB Streaming platform Fubo lost more than 60,000 subscribers in North America during the second quarter of 2024. The company's subscriber count in the region fell to 145 million during Q2, reflecting a sequential dip of 60,000 paid customers.

Net Loss Improves Year-over-Year

Despite the subscriber loss, Fubo's net loss improved significantly year-over-year. The net loss from continuing operations was $258 million, a substantial improvement from the $542 million loss reported in Q2 2023.

The company's North American subscribers grew 24% to 145 million year-over-year, demonstrating continued growth in the region despite the quarterly decline. However, the sequential loss of 61,000 subscribers suggests challenges in maintaining customer engagement.

Fubo's financial performance in Q2 highlights the competitive nature of the streaming market. With several major players offering similar content, it is essential for streaming services to differentiate themselves and retain subscribers. Fubo's focus on sports-first programming may have limited its appeal to a broader audience, contributing to the recent subscriber decline.
